English Open Doors

Program (PIAP) of the Ministry of Education, was created in 2004 with the mission of "improving the level of English learned by students from the 5th grade to the 4th grade, through the definition of national standards for learning English, a strategy for teacher professional development and support for English teachers in the classroom” (Decree 81).

 Currently, the Program belongs to the General Education Division of the Ministry of Education and, in order to fulfill its mission, is in the process of transitioning towards a policy of improving the quality of public education, promoting local educational management and the participation of educational communities in each region.

The English Opens Doors Program (Programa Inglés Abre Puertas) is an initiative supported by the Chilean Ministry of Education, that was created in 2003 with the mission to improve the level of English for students between 5th grade and 12th grade throughout the Chilean public school system by providing teacher training, instructional materials, English immersion camps, Extracurricular workshops for students and more.

 The English Opens Doors Program seeks to foster a new generation of Chilean students equipped with the tools and abilities they will need to succeed in an increasingly globalized world. The Program includes:

 Professional development courses for EFL teachers

English Teacher Networks

Summer and Winter English Camps

Extracurricular Workshops
