English before the 60s

The Pedagogical Institute was founded in 1889 and four years later, in 1893, the first English curriculum was designed by Dr. Rodolfo Lenz. The curriculum objectives included reading and understanding modern authors, everyday conversations, writing “without serious errors” and important aspects of British Literature starting with Shakespeare.

How English was learned informally, before the 60s in Chile in a personal way

My grandfather read all kinds of topics. even philology

I keep some books from his collection

In the past, they did not need technology to learn foreign languages, you just needed to be constant and practice a lot.
